Project: Archway Station – Construction of New Signalling Equipment Room
Client: Tube Lines Limited
Works Value: £280,000
Construction of a new SER in a vent shaft at Archway Station. The new SER was to be built 2 metres above the existing CER, supported on a steel framework fixed to the tunnel ring/shaft bolts. The new room is therefore suspended in the midshaft area using a new design, enabling an otherwise redundant area to be utilised. Our works for this project were as follows:
- Removal and replacement of tunnel ring/shaft bolts at floor and roof slab level.
- Installation of steel superstructures fixed to tunnel ring/shaft bolts.
- Fixing of Holorib for the roof slab supported by the high level superstructure/tunnel ring bolts.
- Fixing of Holorib for the roof slab supported by the high level superstructure/tunnel ring bolts.
- Installation of the rebar and pouring of the concrete roof slab, 400 bags of C40 mixed on site.
- Fixing of the Holorib for the floor slab, supported on the low level superstructure.
- Installation of the rebar and the pouring of the concrete floor slab, 500 bags of C40 mixed on site.
- Building up of blockwork walls between floor and roof slabs. The exterior of the walls is clad with stainless steel sheeting to prevent water ingress.
- Fire stopping between top of blockwork and steel superstructure.
- Fire cladding of steel superstructure both inside and outside of the room.
- Decoration of walls and floor slab.
- Installation of 1 hour fire ceiling below roof slab superstructure.
- Further wall strengthening works to take the load of electrical/mechanical equipment.
- Waterproofing works to roof slab. Vandex BB75, edge trim and guttering with down pipe.
- Installation of safety handrail on new SER roof.
- Installation of CAT ladder and staircase for access to the new SER.
- Installation of a new steel walkway for access to the adjacent shaft.
