Following on from the civil changes and the installation of new escalator frames and step chains etc. D&D Rail commenced the premises work which involved central staircase refurbishment, upper and lower circulation area tiling, re decorations within machine chambers and public areas detailed finishes in preparation for these escalators being returned to service.

The central staircase had the existing nosings removed and the substrate repaired.  New strings were fitted to both sides and new nosings installed.  The treads and risers then had new finishes applied.

The engineers staircase located beneath the escalators for access between the upper and lower machine chambers were repaired and painted with non-slip finish and colour contrasting nosing band.
