Project: Charing Cross Station – FIRAS Works
Client: TfL
Works Value: £6,000
D&D Rail Limited were required to fire protect the air flow ductwork within the new retail unit at Charing Cross Underground Station. DDR cladded the steel ductwork with Rockwool Firepro Slabs, which was fixed using Rockwool Firepro Glue and screws. All exposed fibrous edges were foil taped to protect the slabs from degradation and damage. The rockwool was sealed using promat intumescent mastic to the ends of the slabs to the brickwork. The access hatches to the ductwork were overlapped and fixed using pig tail screws and foil tape to help ease of access. To assist future engineers to locate the hatches we applied location stickers to the cladded access hatch area. New directional airflow stickers were applied to the cladding.
