Project: Walthamstow Station & Kings Cross Station – UMC & LMC Cleaning and Painting

We carried out cleaning and painting works at Walthamstow Central Station (Escalators 1&3) and Kings Cross Station (Escalators 7&9) in the Upper and Lower Machine Chambers as part of LUL’s 3 Year Escalator Refurbishment Plan.

All existing assets had to be carefully protected for the duration of the works.

We cleaned and de-greased heavily soiled areas before using a specialist anti-slip paint to redecorate the floors, plinths, steps, incline stairs and nosings.

Residue had built up from the working escalators and therefore we also cleaned gullies and Aco drainage with an approved degreasing agent to allow water to flow freely down the drainage channels, and eliminate the potential water ingress issue at a later date as a result of the build-up.

Works were carried out by our specialist L&E team who are in possession of all relevant certification including Machine Room Awareness training.
