Russell Square Station – Lifts 1-2-3 – Civil Enabling Works

As part of the Lift 1, 2 & 3 replacement works at Russell Square Station, our task was to carry the civil enabling works in conjunction with this.  Works involved the following:

Lift 1

  1. Create channels within the lift pit floor screed to enable installation of new counterweights by others. Reinstate screed upon completion.
  2. Removal of redundant timber framing from existing lift controllers located in the entrance wall at Ticket Hall Level. Replace timber with new steel frames to enable installation of new controllers by others.  Reinstate brickwork as required.
  3. Installation of new tiling to wall fascia.
  4. Brickwork repairs to strengthen entrance and exit lintel supports.
  5. Removal of redundant inspection hatch to exit wall. Fire stop aperture, then tile wall.
  6. Install new support column to underside of floor slab.

Lift 2

  1. Create channels within the lift pit floor screed to enable installation of new counterweights by others. Reinstate screed upon completion.
  2. Installation of brickwork support steelwork, above suspended ceiling level.
  3. Removal of redundant timber framing from existing lift controllers located in the entrance wall at Ticket Hall Level. Replace timber with new steel frames to enable installation of new controllers by others.  Reinstate brickwork as required.
  4. Installation of new tiling to wall fascia.
  5. Brickwork repairs to strengthen entrance and exit lintel supports.

Lift 3

  1. Create channels within the lift pit floor screed to enable installation of new counterweights by others. Reinstate screed upon completion.
  2. Installation of brickwork support steelwork, above suspended ceiling level.
  3. Removal of left hand brickwork wall, located at the entrance of Ticket Hall Level. Erect new wall from Metsec framing, and fire stop / clad framing with Suplux.
  4. Installation of new tiling to wall fascia.
  5. Brickwork repairs to strengthen entrance and exit lintel supports.
  6. Removal of redundant inspection hatch to exit wall. Fire stop aperture, then tile wall.
