Project: Stanmore Station – Modernisation & Enhancement Project
Client: Tube Lines Limited
Works Value: £275,000
D&D Rail Ltd were awarded the contract at Stanmore Station for the refurbishment of the platform canopy. The works consisted of complete removal of all existing paint coating from the canopy and supporting steelwork. The platforms, surrounding assets and cabling etc. had to be protected during these works.
The works was carried out mainly during engineering hours which limited the working window considerably. To maximise this working window we set up multiple painting gangs in order to follow each other along the canopy in the stripping, washing down, T washing and repainting. Meticulous Inspection Test Plans were in place for this process. A Lead SPC controlled the works progress with each painting gang having its own nominated SPC. Planning meetings were held before each shift between all SPC’s to ensure quality was maintained.
All existing paint was treated as contaminated and disposed of as such by a licenced waste disposal.
The canopy was recoated using an Ameron epoxy coating system (RAL 9010) with daily painting record sheets completed to record temperature, dew point, and paint DFT.
The project on completion was handed back to Tubelines with all relevant documentation
