Project: Stratford Market Depot Security Works Installation of New Air Conditioning Unit
Client: Tube Lines Limited
Works Value: £9,542
Due to change of use D&D Rail were instructed to install a new Air Conditioning Unit in a room in the Security Suite at Stratford Market Depot. The scope was to install a unit to same type and specification of those in the adjacent room.
The existing monitor was removed by others and we commenced works. The wall was CAT scanned for hidden services and the pipework feeds from the condenser to the A/C Unit were cut and bent to shape. The Condenser was positioned outside, at the rear of the building on sections of Unistrut set on a concrete paviour to match the existing. Cable tray was fixed to the exterior wall on saddles and held in place with gutter bolts. The A/C Unit was then fixed to the wall inside the room at the required height on its’ proprietary bracket.
Following the isolation of the smoke head we then protected the assets in the room with fire sheeting and drilled a 50mm hole through the external wall out to the location of the condenser. The pipework was then installed on the cable tray to run between the condenser and the A/C unit.
Our Electrician then ran conduit to the A/C Unit and on the external wall down to the isolator for the condenser. Following a Level 3 Isolation by our electrician, cables were run from the distribution board to the isolator which was fixed to the external wall.
Once all cables and pipework were pulled and installed the A/C Unit was run up and tested. Following a successful test the hole through to the external wall was fire stopped with rockwool and intumescent mastic.
The unit was brought into use for the Security Staff.
We then issued an NICEIC Certificate to Tfl along with Certification for the A/C Unit to complete the handover of the installation.
